What is first aid?
First aid is the initial and immediate medical assistance given to the person suffering from mild or moderate, injury or illness before the person is examined by the doctor. First aid should be considered as a first basic education that every person should learn. But the people will not show interest in learning first aid. What is the basic first aid emergency procedure?
There are some of the basic first aid procedures that everyone should know and when to call 911, if the problem is minor or major, whether it is an emergency or not. The following are some of the procedures that we should know:
First aid for Cuts and scrapes:
In such cases the cut is minor, first, rinse the wound with water or hydrogen peroxide and hold the pressure till the bleeding gets stopped. Once again clean the area and apply the ointment and bandage. If the injury was major, first try to be calm and immediately call 911 for help by the time they come, just tightly hold the area where it got cut to stop the bleeding if you are not able to apply the pressure then tie the rope or cloth in the side where the blood flow to stop the pressure.
First aid for Foreign objects:
It is very simple to remove the foreign object and then apply ointment on the scrape or cut. If the foreign body enters into the eyes, nose, throat, and ear immediately take the person to the nearest medical center for treatment.
First aid for Burns:
If the burn is minor run cool water on the burnt area and then apply antibacterial ointment and take the pain reliever tablet for pain and swelling. If there is a burn in the large area if this is occurred by chemical burns or melted skin then immediately shift the person to the doctor or call the poison control center for help.
First aid for Insect Bites:
Apply hydrocortisone cream on the affected area for any insect bite. You can also apply an antihistamine to stop itching and ibuprofen for pain and swelling. For stings apply tobacco to the area to draw from pain. Remove the stringer that is embedded into the body, if you observe that there is any symptom of swelling and the victim is unable to breathe the shift the person immediately to the emergency room for the treatment.
First aid for animal bites:
If the bite is from the pet like a dog then there is no chance for rabies to attack. If the bite is from cat immediately consult a doctor, cat bites infect easily. If the bite is more and bleeding heavily, hold the place with more pressure to stop the bleeding and move the person to the nearest hospital for medication.
First aid for Poison:
If there is a chemical or poison is ingested immediately call the poison control center for help and they will help you out in it. And if you are unable to over the situation immediately move to the nearest medical center for diagnosis.
First aid for Eye Injury:
If the injury is an eye, treat the eye with a cool compress and take pain killer for relief. If the injury is for the eyeball and if there is bleeding that may cause the problem to the vision. Then immediately consult the doctor.
First aid for head trauma:
The person will not lose consciousness if he had a hit on the head. Make sure what had happened to him and observe him. If the injured person has the symptoms of fainting, bleeding from nose or ear and vision problem and if he loses consciousness immediately shit the victim to the nearest hospital for immediate treatment.
First aid for fractures:
If the person is having a fracture, then he has to be shifted immediately to the hospital for medication. To reduce pain the fractured part should be tied with the straight stick so it relieves the pain.do not press on it and immediately call 911.
First aid for an electric shock:
Hear the minor shock is equal to minor burn. If the person is like losing consciousness or acting abnormally he should be immediately taken to the doctor. In some cases, their heart may be stopped at that time we need to do CPR. And immediately call 911.
First aid for Frostbite and heart stroke:
Mild heart stroke can be treated at home by cooling off and administering water if the stroke is high and the person is altered consciousness and immediately he should be moved to the nearest medical center.
If the person is affected by frostbite he should be taken to the hospital for treatment for restoring the circulation to the affected area.
First aid for sunburn:
When the person is affected by sunburn. Immediately shift the person to the shaded place and place a cool cloth on the affected area and make the person take a cool shower and apply soothing lotion on the affected area which contains Aloe Vera and give the person hydrocortisone cream for relieving pain and swelling. This sunburn may cause headache, fever and dehydration he should be given more fluids for fast recovery.
First aid for pregnancy:
The person should be immediately shifted to the hospital and information to the doctor or hospital staff if there is heavy bleeding, abdominal pain, contractions and if fainted. Shift the person as soon as possible to the nearest medical center.
If an emergency?
If it is a life-threatening emergency, and the person is suffering from chest pain, breathing difficultly 0r bleeding. Immediately call 9-1-1 or local emergency number.

What are the safety tips for first aid?

- While giving first aid first know the problem and what has happened to the victim and then give the medication.
- Follow the instructions given in the medical kit.
- Wear gloves before you start the treatment. So that the bacteria may not be transmitted.
- First, know if the person is allergic to any medicine.
- Do not use the medicine in overdosage.
- Check whether the victim is having any other health issues like heart problem, diabetes, asthma, thyroid and any other.
- If the person is pregnant then do not use any medicine without the guidance of the doctor, which may be harmful to the person and the baby.
- It’s better not to give any medicine to the victim if it is necessary immediately call the doctor and take confirm with him.
- Do not give the pain killers to the victim if they are under 18.
